Are you fascinated by Egypt and all its wonders? Do you find yourself watching every movie that comes out with any sort of Egyptian connection? Is your bookshelf filled with books about Egypt? Well why not turn this into one of the decorative themes in your home? Believe it or not, it's not that hard to do. The first thing you have to decide is what room in your home you want to transform into one with an Egyptian theme. In this case were going to use a bedroom. Of course, the main piece of furniture you're going to need is a bed, but there's plenty of accent furniture that's going to continue with its own way of bringing Egypt to life.
The Bed When it comes to the bed, most beds look pretty similar. However, you may be able to find a headboard that has hieroglyphs or other Egyptian symbols or designs carved into it, such as a pyramid. Additionally, there is plenty of bedding out there that's either created in an Egyptian theme or will go with an Egyptian theme, such as something that has a lot of gold in it, just like the Egyptians would have. Nightstands Next you're going to want to have nightstand next to the bed. If you want to go with a simpler Egyptian theme, go with wood. Think of wood furniture items that may have been used in the Egyptian times. Preferably something that looks like it was made by hand, possibly with a hammered textured finish. The Dresser You can start getting a little fancier with the dresser. Sure, you can stick with the same theme as we did with the nightstand, of hammered textured dark wood, but you also may be able to find something that has a little bit of an Egyptian feel to it, or even something that gives a desert feel to it. It may take a little while to shop around, but you may be surprised at some of the unique dressers that are on the market. Armoire An armoire, if your bedroom has one, should really make a statement.
You can't just settle for the same hammered textured wood at this point. Look for something that looks like it's been hand carved, perhaps created for a pharaoh himself. There are a number of ornate and detailed designs out there of this type of furniture piece. Bringing any of these into the room will really spruce things up. Accent Furniture Now it's time for the finishing touches. If you really do have a lot of books about Egypt, one of the first things you may want to add to your bedroom is a bookshelf. Put all those books on the bookshelf and decorate some of the open spaces with Egyptian artifacts, artwork, or other Egyptian themed items. Also, look for fun pieces of furniture with an Egyptian layer. Perhaps you can find a DVD holder in the shape of a pharaoh or a jewelry box that's shaped like a pyramid. You should not have a problem finding lamps that look like some of the Egyptian God's holding on to the light. Once you put all of these different features together, you may be surprised at how quickly your bedroom changes from just the place to go to sleep to a place where you get to escape to Egypt to enjoy that slumber.
